6 February 2016

One of the facts of life is that, regrettably, any bright lad at school is directed to the academic, while the less bright is directed towards the practical where, almost inevitably, he does relatively well, giving rise to the perception that ‘he is not very bright, but good with his hands’.  I have it on good authority that anyone who is intellectually bright is also about 90% likely to have correspondingly high practical abilities - if given the opportunities.
Many of my chums, coerced at an early age into the professions, now show an aptitude, usually too late, for the practical skills so useful in keeping our cars proceeding as they should. And what about the masses being shoe-horned into University education, which about 25% do not complete, and many of those who do last the course become inadequate and unhappy ‘graduates’, rather than skilled, dedicated and fulfilled craftsmen?
Fact - about half the people in this country are below the average intelligence.
Fact – about half the people in this country are below the average age.
If you have to think about those statements, see me after school !
There we are. That was for all those people who kindly wrote in and enquired after my health because my last contribution was a bit mild and not my usual rant!
Poop. Poop.
