Other motorists - well really! I do realise that everyone
can't have my skill, equanimity and calm, reasoned thinking, but some of the
idiots on the road should be horse whipped!

But surely everyone should know that to drive on one's own
side of the highway is the first principle in the etiquette of the road. Ah
well, change of subject.
There is no end to
the number of fittings which the enthusiast may have on his dashboard - most of
them costly and of doubtful utility! Speedometers are no doubt accurate in
indicating, in miles per hour (and now kilometres per whatever it is), the rate
at which the car is travelling, but it is doubtful whether they give much pleasure
to the average owner of a car. They are often a distraction and occasionally
cause serious concern. On the whole it is not advisable for the ordinary
motorist to have a speedometer.
Finally, the ladies.
Those ladies with defective nerve power, which is probably most of them, would
undoubtedly derive great benefit from the invigorating and refreshing effect
caused by driving an automobile. But please keep them well away from me!
